The Jazz and Pop performance "course" is a pathway that exists within the broader Music BA degree and consists of various modular units. It has been designed to help students gain an understatnding of how to play in a real life situation. As well as the individual instrumental lessons there are also regular performance classes in which students are taught the important aspects of real live peformance: how to put a set together, how to walk on and off stage, how to engage with the audience, how to look good on stage. Basically how to do a great gig and be rebooked.

Performance exams are more like real gigs than exams. Students choose whether to play at the Talking Heads (local live music venue) or in the Turner Sims Concert Hall.
